Uttarakhand: Paving way for the continuation of facilities of former Chief Ministers, a notification issued

The way has been cleared to retain the facilities of the five former Chief Ministers of the state. The government has retained its residential and other facilities by enacting a law, but this facility will be available only to the former chief ministers before 31 March 2019. The legislative department has issued a gazetted notification of Uttarakhand Ex-servicemen (Residential and Other Facilities) Act 2019.

On a petition, the High Court had scissored the facilities of former Chief Ministers, but the state government legislated it by passing ordinances and bills in the Assembly. According to the gazette notification issued, the rent of his government house will be recovered from the former chief ministers at a rate 25 percent higher than the government rates.

They will have to pay the electricity, water and sewerage bills of their own. They were to be charged rent at market rates, which was overshadowing their pocket. Former Chief Minister Bhagat Singh Koshyari had even expressed his inability to pay the rental dues at the market rate.

This facility will also be there
– Vehicles including the driver, fuel, their care, personal assistant, OSD, PRO, class IV personnel, janitor, telephone assistant, security guard free
– The state government will provide them security and protocol facilities from time to time. The government will bear the cost of repairing the houses.
– This law will benefit former Chief General BC Khanduri, Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Harish Rawat and Vijay Bahuguna.

Agricultural land can be given to industries on lease
Uttarakhand has become the first state in the country to lease agricultural land for non-agricultural purposes. With the issuance of notification of Uttarakhand (Uttar Pradesh Zamindari Destruction and Land System Act 1950) Amendment Act, this system has come into force in the state. Under this, twelve and a half acres of agricultural land can be given on lease for industrial works.

These also become laws, a notification issued
After approval from Raj Bhavan, Uttarakhand Goods and Services Tax Amendment Act, Uttarakhand State Legislature (Prevention of Disqualification) Amendment Act and Uttarakhand (Uttar Pradesh Public Service) (Reservation Act 1993 for dependent and ex-servicemen of physically challenged, freedom fighters) Gazette notification of the Act has also been issued.

Gazette notifications of Uttarakhand Chardham Shrine Management Act, Nursery Act, Uttarakhand Panchayatiraj Amendment Act, Agricultural Produce Market Amendment Act, returned from Raj Bhavan have been sent to the government press for publication.
