Uttarakhand will also get cheaper ration on white and pink ration cards made in other states under the National Food Security (NFSA) scheme. At the same time, migrants who do not have any kind of ration card, the government will give them five kilograms of rice per person for free in May and June. Migrants will be given free ration from June 1.

The government has directed all the district collectors to mention in the list of migrants returning from outside states whether they have a ration card or not. So far, more than one lakh migrants have reached their homes in the state due to the lockdown. While 2.25 lakh migrants have registered to come to Uttarakhand.

The central and state governments have decided to give free ration to the migrants in the months of May and June. Under the NFSA scheme, primary (white) and Antyodaya (pink) ration cardholders in other states will be given cheaper rations per month at Uttarakhand’s cheap cut shops. At the same time, migrants returning to Uttarakhand who do not have a ration card will also be given five kilograms of rice per person for free.

This is the system of ration –

There are two types of ration cards under the public distribution system. The primary and Antyodaya ration cards come under the Centre’s NFSA. While the APL family is included under the State Food Scheme. The primary family gets 2 kg of wheat and 3 kg of rice per month. While the Antyodaya family gets 21 kg 700-gram wheat and 13 kg 300-gram rice per card.

Apart from this, an additional 5 kg of rice is being given free to NFSA cardholders in lockdown. Whereas the state food scheme used to get 7.50 kg cheaper ration per month. The state government has increased this to 20 kg per month. It contains 10 kg of rice and 10 kg of wheat.

If a migrant has an NFSA ration card in another state, then he can get cheaper ration per month at fixed rates. For the migrants who do not have ration cards, five kg per person rice will be given free of cost in the months of May and June. Instructions to all district magistrates that in the list of migrants coming from outside states, it should also be ascertained whether they have a ration card or not.
