The state’s first ESIC hospital has been formally begun. The 100-bed hospital was jointly inaugurated by Santosh Gangwar, Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Labor and Employment and State Labor Minister Harak Singh Rawat on Wednesday. With this, the IPD (admitted patient) facility has also started about eight months after the OPD facility started in the hospital.
Minister of State for Labor and Employment (Independent Charge) Gangwar said that the first 100-bed ESIC hospital in the state had only OPD facility since February 20. Now all health facilities will be available to the insured and their family members here. The hospital has all basic health facilities including three operation theaters, ICU wards. The construction of this hospital built on five acres of land has cost Rs 97.72 crore. It has 32 staff quarters.
Target to open ESI hospital in all districts by 2022
Minister of State for Labor and Employment (Independent Charge) Gangwar said that the central government has set a target of opening ESIC hospitals in all districts of the country by the year 2022. Till date, 580 ESIC hospitals have been opened in 722 districts of the country. The Indian government is concerned about the health of workers. He said that workers of unorganized sectors, who are more than 60 years of age, are being linked to the pension scheme. He said that the government is also preparing to provide treatment to general patients in ESIC Hospital for a minimum fee.
Specialist doctors will be posted in six months: Harak Singh
Labor and Employment Minister Harak Singh Rawat said that specialist doctors will also be appointed in ESIC Hospital within six months. ESIC Hospital in Rudrapur will prove to be a milestone in the field of health. He said that ESIC hospitals are being set up in the hill areas to provide health benefits to the workers. Currently, more than three lakh construction workers have been registered in Uttarakhand. The Employees’ State Insurance Scheme first started in Roorkee in the year 1962 and today the scheme is applicable in 18 centers in the state of Uttarakhand.
Director-General seen unhappy with construction work
The Director-General of ESIC and IAS Rajkumar inspected various wards, ICUs, operation theaters, ramps, elevators, general and private wards from the ground floor to the second floor before the inauguration of ESIC Hospital at Rudrapur. Taking the complaint of water dripping on the walls on the second floor during the inspection, he expressed his displeasure to the executive body. At the same time, warning the engineer present there, he advised them to be serious towards work.
