Government asked list from all districts, process to be completed in 10-15 days
Councilors and members will soon be nominated by the government in Uttarakhand’s urban bodies. For this, the government has sought a list from all the districts. Nominated councilors can be nominated in the coming 15 days. Councilors and members will be nominated by the government in a total of 90 bodies including eight municipal corporations of the state.
Municipal elections were held in the state in 2018. Even after the lapse of two years, the councilors and members have not been nominated by the government in the bodies. Councilors and members are to be nominated in Municipal Corporation Dehradun, Haldwani, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Kotdwar, Kashipur, Rudrapur, Roorkee, and 82 municipalities and Nagar panchayats.
The government will nominate 20 percent of members based on the total number of elected members in the bodies. Elections have not been held in Nagar Panchayat Selakui and Bhaderunda. Therefore, nothing is being said clearly in the process of nominating them.
With the nomination process started, many activists of BJP are engaged in making recommendations at the level of organization and government to become councilors in the bodies. Urban Development Minister Madan Kaushik said that soon the government will nominate councilors and members in urban bodies. The list has been sought from all the districts. Councilors will be nominated within 10 to 15 days of arrival.
