Cabinet has approved to make Jolly Grant Airport an International Airport in Dehradun. The expansion of the airport will cost around Rs 300 crore. This will enable the movement of large aircraft in Jolly Grant.
At the same time, the capacity of passengers will be up to 1800. The Civil Aviation Department has prepared a proposal to expand the Jolly Grant Airport as per international standards by marking the land. It has been approved by the cabinet on Wednesday.
The state government has to provide only the land, the central government will pay all the expenses for the expansion. The Jolly Grant Airport will be built up to 60 meters wide and 270 meters long runway as per international standards. This will require 105 hectares of land.
The landmarked is both government and private. The Civil Aviation Department has prepared the proposal after studying the airport expansion report given by technical experts. After expansion, the Jolly Grant Airport will start air services to Gulf Country, including Vietnam, Cambodia, Mumbai.
