Trekking is a sport that keeps the Mountaineers as well as the tourists updated about the new places and many unknown details and destination, said CM while flagging off the Himalayan Digdarshan YatraSarutal. He also said that trek should be linked with conservation of Himalaya and environment, the revival of rivers, campaign for cleaning the Ganga, a polythene-free environment and tree plantation. This sport would not only attract tourists but also provide employment to the local residents besides keeping the surroundings clean.
Trekking to places as such would make the specialties and problems known for the next move. CM also encouraged to link women more in trekking.
The Sarutal trekking expedition will be conducted from October 22 to 27. This is a sacred lake situated at an altitude of about 4,200 meters in the Uttarkashi district. The 14- member trekking team, starting from Dehradun will trek to Devjani, Kedarkantha, Dunda, Talhati, Sarutal, Dobalka, Sar and Ghingadi among other sites.
