Three-tier panchayat elections: India-Nepal border will be sealed 48 hours before polling

In Pithoragarh, District Election Officer (Panchayat) Dr. Vijay Kumar Jogande has told that the election process will be completed in three phases under the three-tier panchayat election. In the first phase, the polling process will be held from 8 am to 5 pm on October 5 in the development block of Vina, Munakot, Kanalichina and in the third phase on October 16 in Dharchula, Munsiyari, and Didihat.

He said that the boundary of the development blocks of the first and third phases is bordering the nation of Nepal. For the election to be conducted in peace and fairness, it is mandatory to seal the border of the nation of Nepal 48 hours before the date of voting in the said phases.

He informed that in accordance with the instructions of the State Election Commission, the border of Nepal nation bordering Pithoragarh for three-tier panchayat elections on October 5, the boundary will be sealed 48 hours before five o’clock in the scheduled time for the end of polling in the development block Munakot, Kanalichina and the development block Munsiyari, Dharchula on October 16.
