Three private colleges have been sued for crores of scholarship scams, three officials arrested

scholarship scam

The SIT probing the scholarship scam in Uttarakhand has registered a case against three private educational institutions at Kankhal, Jwalapur Kotwali, and Sidkul police stations. At the same time, the SIT on Monday arrested two retired and one current Assistant Social Welfare Officer. All of them are accused of physical verification of students in a fake way. All these accused will be produced in court on Tuesday.

A private educational institution is accused of grabbing money of 5.53 crore, another on 5.75 crore and third on grabbing money of 3.68 crore. The police station and the officials concerned have started investigation in this regard.

SI Madan Mohan Bhatt, posted in SIT, has filed a scholarship scam case against Swami Darshananand Institute of Management and Technology Gurukul College Management at Kankhal police station.

It is alleged that from the year 2011 to 2017, admission of SC / ST students in many subjects has been shown in the institute. A scholarship of 5.53 crores was awarded during this period, but the scholarship was sent directly to the bank account of the institute instead of the bank accounts of the students. Two mobile numbers are recorded in the bank accounts of the students. It is clear that one person was operating all the accounts.

Staying college management
On the other hand, SI Shailendra Mamgain has filed a case against the management of Ramanand Institute of Pharmacy and Management at Kotwali Jwalapur. It is alleged that from the year 2012 to the year 2017, an amount of 5.75 crores was given in the name of scholarship. Here also, the scholarship was not directly transferred to the students’ accounts but directly to the management’s account. It is alleged that the students whose admission was shown did not take the examinations at all.

The third case related to the scholarship scam has been lodged at Sidkul police station. Action has been taken by the SIT against the management of Manav Bharati University Solan (Himachal Pradesh). It is alleged that in the name of the scholarship, an amount of Rs 3.68 crores has been captured by showing fake admission in many academic sessions from the year 2011 to 2017.

The college management is taking full advantage of the wavering attitude of the SIT. Such a thing is also coming forth that three college management has also taken a stay from the High Court. If this has happened, it is a setback for the SIT.

SIT in-charge Manju Nath TC says that cases have been filed against three private educational institutions on behalf of the SIT investigating the scholarship scam. Now further investigation will be carried out by the concerned police and local police of Kotwali. Evidence will be made available to the investigating officer.

Three officers arrested after questioning
ASIT has already arrested the then-District Social Welfare Officer Anurag Shankhadhar in this much-talked-about scam. Ever since his arrest, the sword of arrest was hanging on the assistant social welfare officers.

On Monday, the SIT called Assistant Social Welfare Officer Som Prakash, son of Faggan Singh, resident of Pith Vihar Ganeshpur Roorkee, Munish Tyagi, son of Vineet, resident Sagwa Nagar street number three Paniala road Ganganahar and Vinod Kumar Naithani, son of Ramesh Chandra, resident of Dovalwala Dehradun for questioning.

He was unable to answer when the SIT asked him questions regarding fake physical verification of the students. The SIT’s interrogation continued for several hours. According to the SIT, they all verified such students, who had never gone to college nor had they taken the exam.

The SIT arrested him for not getting satisfactory answers. SIT investigator Ayush Aggarwal said that Som Prakash is currently working as Assistant Social Welfare Officer Bhagwanpur Block, the remaining two are retired. He was posted here when the scam was done.
