The election for Uttarakhand Bar Council President’s post canceled, reinstatement instructed

The Election Tribunal of Bar Council of India has canceled the election for the post of Uttarakhand Bar Council President. Election officials have been ordered to hold elections for this post with a fresh start. Former Judge of Karnataka High Court SK Mukherjee, former Gujarat High Court judge RD Vyas and former Patna High Court Judge Mridula Mishra passed the order on Monday after a meeting.

On 6 May, elections were held for President, Vice President of Bar Council of Uttarakhand and other posts. Surendra Pundir was elected the president after the election. In the meantime, after the controversy over the votes, for the post of the president, the claimant Sukhpal Singh, had filed an objection in the Supreme Court Tribunal. After the hearing, the Tribunal has said that the elections have not been done in accordance with the 2014 Rules.

In such a way, the Tribunal has ordered the re-election for the post of president. Chairman Surendra Pundir says that he has not received the copy of the order. After the study of the order, he can say something. He said that he has informed about the abrogation of the election and he has information about re-election.
