Scholarship renewal option missing from the social welfare department portal, thousands of students upset

The fear of losing the scholarship of about six thousand students, Dehradun district has started to be disturbed. The Social Welfare Department has started scholarship applications for the year 2019-20, but the option of renewal is missing on the scholarship portal. Due to which the eligible students of the previous year are not able to apply. While only two days (15 October) are left for application.

Actually, the eligible students of the previous year can apply for the scholarship of the next year only when the scholarship of the previous year has come to their account. Only then the departmental verification of those students is considered complete. Based on this, the student has the option of renewal in the scholarship portal. However, this time the department has not been able to complete the verification of the scholarship for the previous year (2018-19).

Due to which the portal does not have the option of renewal for the previous year students. This is the situation when about eight thousand students in the district are beneficiaries of post-matric scholarship, in which about 80 percent of students fall under the category of renewal.

Can’t apply due to problem in the portal
Principals of many schools said that strict instructions have been given to schools on behalf of the CEO that all applications should be completed by October 15. But due to problems in the portal, they are not able to apply. The principal of Government Higher Secondary School, Mendrath (Tuni), Dr. YS Barthwal informed that the renewal option is not coming in the portal. He has complained about this.

There is no option of renewal on the scholarship portal. The IT cell will be discussed in this regard. It is expected that the portal will be opened for the eligible students of the previous year after the 15th of October. They may be given a few days off.
