Keeping in mind basic amenities, transit camp is being built at a cost of Rs 10 crore
For tourists visiting Chardham, construction work of the Transit Camp-registration office on the land of the Tourism Department near Chandrabhaga is going on in full swing. Keeping in mind the basic amenities of tourists, transit camps are being constructed at a cost of 10 crores. According to the working organization, the work of the camp will be completed by the year 2021.
In the year 2013, thousands of pilgrims were hit in the deluge of Kedarnath tragedy. After this, the government started working on the Transit Hostel Scheme to make the journey smooth and safe. The tourism department has prepared a blueprint for the transit camp plan. But the plan did not come due to the non-availability of land. After this, 3.70 hectares of forest land near Chandrabhaga and Gopalnagar was transferred to the tourism department in January 2019.
After almost a year has passed, finally, a few days ago, the executive organization Bidkul has started working here. At present excavation work for construction of 45 meters long and wide building has been completed. JE Rahul of Bidkul said that the construction of the transit camp has started on the instructions of the tourism department. Transit camp work will be completed by July 2021 if there is no disruption of weather.
The building is being built looking at future plans
The construction of the transit camp building is being done keeping in mind the strength of the six floors from the ground. However, only three floors are yet to be constructed here. But according to departmental sources, in view of future plans, more can be constructed on this building in the coming time.
These departments will have offices
The transit camp will be built on the ground floor, first and second floors. It will have two multiple ticket counters on the ground floor. Separate facilities will be available for women, men, senior citizens and the disabled. Apart from this, a bank and ATM facility will also be available on this floor. The tourism department and the joint rotation office associated with Chardham Yatra will also be here. There will be shops on the first floor. These shops will have facilities for food, etc. for the passengers. There will be accommodation for passengers on the second floor. About 150 passengers will be able to stay here at a time.
There will also be many facilities including lift
In addition to the stairs to climb in the transit camp, there will also be a lift. Apart from this, there will be plenty of toilets available on each floor. Also, there will be a ramp facility for the arrival of handicaps here.
250 buses will have parking facility
Currently, only transit camp work is under construction here. The facility of erecting vehicles coming from outside will be available by the tourism department during the Chardham Yatra here. More than 250 vehicles can be parked here at a time. Due to some illegal encroachers, the work of building vehicle parking here is hanging in the balance.
