The city of yoga and pilgrimage Rishikesh has been included in the Rs 2800 crore smart city scheme. The city will be completely rejuvenated under this project. Officials of the Urban Development Department gave this information to Assembly Speaker Premchand Aggarwal. In the meeting called for an improvement of urban facilities in the assembly area, departmental officers shared the blueprint of the proposed plan.

Additional Secretary (Urban Development) Chandresh Yadav told the Vice-Chairman that this scheme will strengthen the basic facilities in the urban areas of Rishikesh, Munikirati, Laxman Jhula, and other areas. The scheme is proposed in two phases. Under the scheme, 24-hour drinking water supply in Rishikesh urban area, construction, and beautification of ghats, construction of roadside drains, road transport system, including bus stop, parking, footpath as well as tourism center Yoga Center, Meditation Park, There will be many other works including a museum based on Indian culture.

Developed on the lines of smart city, efficient urban mobility and public transport including adequate water supply, power supply, sanitation, solid waste management in the city and their surroundings, strong IT connectivity and digitization, good governance, especially e-governance, public, there will be a tremendous improvement in the transport system. The Wis president said that the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (Shanghai) would provide a loan of Rs 2800 crore for integrated urban infrastructure. The proposal has been approved by NITI Aayog and other departments. A decision will be taken soon to prepare DPR at the government level.

Central government expresses gratitude
Assembly Speaker Premchand Aggarwal thanked the Central Government, Chief Minister and Urban Development Minister for the inclusion of Rishikesh in the Integrated Urban Infrastructure Project. He said that this will help in developing the world-famous Rishikesh as a yoga, spirituality and tourism city.
