A ration card in the form of address and ID proof will also be valid for making a passport. On the orders of the Ministry of External Affairs, the Uttarakhand Regional Passport Office has issued guidelines in this regard.

Till now, driving license, Aadhaar card, rent card, gas connection, electricity bill, etc. were valid as address proof for making a passport. Similarly, ID cards with central and state government recognized photos were considered as ID proof.

Now under the new rules, the Ministry of External Affairs has also recognized the ration card as address proof. Apart from this, the verified photo-bearing ration card can also be attached as an ID proof along with the passport application. Regional Passport Officer Rishi Angra said that this rule has also been implemented in Uttarakhand.

Verification will be done for police clearance

A Police clearance certificate (PCC) will now require police verification again. Earlier, PCC was issued by the Passport Office on the basis of a passport made earlier. Now, this rule has also changed.

Date of birth verification will be done from an old passport

The Passport Department of the Ministry of External Affairs has relaxed the rules for proof of date of birth in the re-issue passport application. Now the basis of an old passport will be accepted as a birth certificate.

Regional passport officer Rishi Angara said that it was closed on March 22. It will now be started on June 24. For this, 50 appointments can be taken from the Passport India website instead of 100 for daily.

Application for immediate passport starts
