A ration card in the form of address and ID proof will also be valid for making a passport. On the orders of the Ministry of External Affairs, the Uttarakhand Regional Passport Office has issued guidelines in this regard.
Till now, driving license, Aadhaar card, rent card, gas connection, electricity bill, etc. were valid as address proof for making a passport. Similarly, ID cards with central and state government recognized photos were considered as ID proof.

Apart from this, the verified photo-bearing ration card can also be attached as an ID proof along with the passport application. Regional Passport Officer Rishi Angra said that this rule has also been implemented in Uttarakhand.
