A narrator of the post-tenancy scholarship scam has been arrested by the Nainital Police from Moradabad on Tuesday. The accused said that he used to get three thousand rupees per admission from people associated with Monad University.
SP City Amit Srivastava said that a lawsuit was filed in Bhimtal after the post-tenancy scholarship scam surfaced. Inspector Sudhir Kumar is investigating this case. The police arrested Ankit Aggarwal, a resident of Naveenagar in Moradabad district, during the investigation.
The accused told the police that he was closely associated with Monad University chairman Pramod Goyal, the staff there Anuj Gupta, Manish Garg, and Ramji. He promised to give three thousand rupees for the admission of a student. He does not receive any salary. That is why he met his relative Arvind who lives in Kaladhungi to earn money. He took certificates of five-six students from a relative and deposited them in Monad University.
After this, Sachin Gupta associated with the university sent him to Bhimtal, Office of Social Welfare Department, to take a scholarship check. He received the check and deposited it in the university. The police, after questioning, produced the accused before the court. The court sent him to judicial custody and sent to jail. Based on the interrogation, the police are searching for the other accused. On the orders of the High Court, SIT has been constituted to investigate the scholarship scam. Under the leadership of SIT chief IG Sanjay Gunjyal, the police of 11 districts of the state are investigating the scam.
20 lakh scam
SP City said that during the investigation, a scam of 20 lakh 63 thousand 900 rupees was revealed. In this case, 44 applications were sent for the scholarship from Monad University, but the Social Welfare Department had released a scholarship amount of 28 students.
