The Dehradun Police’s campaign against drug addiction continues. Police have arrested seven people from various places. Alcohol, heroin, and cannabis were also recovered from them.
Raipur Police has arrested two youths from two different places with 11.65 grams of heroin. Both the accused were questioned by CO Jaya Baluni, in which they said that they used to bring heroin from Bareilly.
Inspector Devendra Singh Chauhan said that the accused have been identified as Anshul, resident of Mohini Road, New Village, Dalanwala, and Sarabjit, resident of Shastrinagar, Nehru Colony. 5.82 grams of heroin and an electronic scale have been recovered from Anshul. During questioning, he told that he practiced in Dehradun Court.
While Sarabjit works in a private job. 5.83 grams of heroin and a car have been recovered from him. According to police, both of them used to buy heroin from Bareilly and sell it to the youth of school-colleges here. More information is being collected from both of them in this regard.
Four smugglers caught with cannabis
The Nehru Colony Police has arrested four smugglers from the Railway Ground, Dipnagar with 14 kg of cannabis. The accused have been identified as Anuj, resident of village Nagalaloka police station Sasni Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, Ravindra, and Dharmendra, resident of Rajivnagar Keshavpuri, Doiwala, and Rafiq, resident of Nanda’s outpost, Premnagar. The accused said during interrogation that he used to bring ganja from Agra and sell it here. A bike has also been recovered from the accused.
One arrested with 10 cases of alcohol
The Munikirati police arrested one person, including 10 cases of smuggled English liquor, for the panchayat elections. According to the police, in view of the panchayat elections, an intensive check-up campaign has been carried out in the police station area for the prevention of illicit liquor. When a duster vehicle was stopped for the King near Tapovan Outpost, 10 boxes of English liquor from Casino Pride made in Haryana were recovered. Kuldeep’s son Mahendra, resident of village Khedi police station Gannore district Sonipat Haryana was arrested from the spot.
Excise clerk suspended in liquor smuggling
Personnel of the Excise Department who are responsible for curbing liquor smuggling are now facing charges of liquor smuggling. In one such case, Nand Lal, a clerk posted in the district excise office of Pithoragarh, was suspended.
Additional Commissioner (Personnel) of Excise Department Alok Kumar Pandey said that Excise Clerk was traveling in a vehicle carrying the Election Commission plate. Meanwhile, the police recovered liquor from his vehicle. It is alleged that this liquor was being transported to a candidate of three-tier panchayat elections. Considering the seriousness of the case, the concerned clerk was suspended with immediate effect. Along with this, an investigation is being done in the case, after which further action will be taken.
