Uttarakhand State Election Commission has banned publicity material made of plastic-polyethylene in three-tier panchayat elections. State Election Commissioner Chandrashekhar Bhatt has issued instructions to the District Magistrates of 12 districts. He has said that action should be taken against anyone who uses material made of plastic-polyethylene.
At the same time, many people may be deprived of voting in the panchayat elections. It is alleged that the objections of many voters in the rural areas have not been heard and they have also prepared a voter list in a hurry. It is worth mentioning that on July 15, the voter list was prepared for the panchayat elections. Objections were to be heard after that. People also started filing objections in the block offices. Hundreds of objections were settled. However, many have not been settled yet. A voter, on the condition of anonymity, told that his brother’s voting booth is in the village itself, while his and wife’s vote is at another booth two kilometers away. He also objected to this. However, the authorities did not take into account this, stating the limitation of wards. So why would he go to vote two kilometers away… In this case, the officials say that the objections were heard and disposed of as per the rules.
Hundreds of voters could not vote in the civic elections
Hundreds of people could not cast their votes in the last year’s civic elections due to a lack of names in the voter list. Most of the voters were from rural areas who came to the civic area for the first time. Similarly, the complaints that are still reaching are also from these areas.
