In the wee hours of yesterday, a severe earthquake was felt in some areas of the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand. At 7:30 in the morning, a strong earthquake tremor was felt by people in various parts of Pithoragarh, including Munsiyari, Didihat.
According to information from the Indian Meteorological Department, the intensity of the earthquake was 4.5 magnitudes on the Richter scale and the epicenter of the earthquake was Pithoragarh. It is 10 km in depth. There is no notice of loss of life or property of anyone. People came out of the houses as soon as the earthquake was felt.
Along with this, earthquake tremors were felt in Champawat, Almora, Bageshwar, and Nainital besides Pithoragarh. At the same time, there are reports of mild tremors felt in Pauri.
Earthquake felt in Chamoli on October 1
Earlier on October 1, the tremor was also felt in the Chamoli district. The tremors were felt in Chamoli around 6: 57 pm. The earthquake intensity was 3.3 on the Richter scale.
The depth of the earthquake was ten kilometers inside the land. Its center was also Chamoli. Chamoli district is the most sensitive in earthquake zone five. There has been no loss of any kind in the area due to the extremely low intensity of the earthquake.
