One such sentence of the Lok Sabha election of 2004 is still in the mind of the voters. In the 2004 Lok Sabha election, Bahujan Samaj Party had given a ticket to Shyam Lal from Almora seat.
Even after the general seat, the BSP had fielded candidates from the Dalit class. While the remaining nine candidates, including Bachi Singh Rawat from BJP and Renuka Rawat from Congress, Kashi Singh Airy, Purushottam Sharma, Gulzar Khan, Ratan Ram, Radha Devi and Kaushuthanand, Chandra Singh Bisht from Uttarakhand were in the electoral field.
Candidate Shyam Lal was not present in the meeting
Mayawati had to address the meeting in the Bageshwar Degree College Ground. The BSP office-bearers also mobilized the crowd. During the meeting of Mayawati, who came to Bageshwar from a special helicopter, Shyam Lal was not present in the forum, there was some suspicion about workers.
But, the forum repeatedly said that the party candidates are campaigning in the remote area of Almora, due to which he cannot reach Bageshwar. Until the meeting was over, Mayawati did not even realize the withdrawal of the name. After the meeting was over, the workers started discussing that Shyam Lal had withdrawn the name. After this political incident, the BSP had to face severe rampage.
