In Lohaghat today, the police and forest department team caught a person with three leopard skins. It was told that the accused is a resident of Patiuda. There is a stir in the forest department after the leopard was found. Just a few days ago the SOG of Wildlife Crime Bureau Delhi and Terai Central Forest Division arrested three smugglers with leopard skins.
The smuggler was in the process of bringing the skins from Bageshwar to Delhi. The skins were traded for one and a half lakh rupees. The Wildlife Crime Bureau Delhi was reported to have smuggled leopard skins into the Nainital region. On this, the team along with SOG in-charge Kailash Tiwari arrested three youths with leopard skin near Bhakra bridge in Lamachod Khas.
Kailash Tiwari said that a case was filed against Mohan Ram, Ramesh Lal, residents of Maldhan Chaud Ramnagar and Rakesh Kumar, resident of Ramjivanpur Bajpur Udham Singh Nagar and sent them to jail. Told that skins were made available to smugglers from Jhatkhali, a village of Kapkot in Bageshwar district. Skin’s deal was with a Delhi party for Rs 1.5 lakh.
