Increased wholesale inflation in March after retail, increased in this rate

After retail, there was also an increase in the wholesale inflation rate. According to the data released by the Finance Ministry, wholesale inflation has increased to 3.18 % in March. This was 2.93 % in February. Due to the rise in food and fuel prices, inflation based on wholesale price index rose for the second consecutive month and reached 3.18 % in March. This is known in the official figures released on Monday.

Wholesale inflation was 2.93 % in February and 2.74 % in March last year. During March 2019, prices of food items and vegetables came to an exponential rate. Inflation in vegetables increased from 6.82% in February to 28.13% in March. However, the rate of potato dropped from 23.40 % in February to 1.30 % in March.

Increase in retail inflation
In March, there was a slight increase in the retail inflation rate. Although it is much lower than last year. In the other industrial production rate, there was also an increase of 0.1 %.

Increase due to this
According to the data released by the government, the increase in CNG, LPG, and PNG along with food items and petrol and diesel was seen in March. Inflation in food items has increased to 0.3 % in March, which was down 0.66 percent in February. Inflation in fuel and light segment increased to 2.42 % in March, from 1.24 % in February.

0.1 percent increase in industrial production
In the manufacturing sector, the industrial production growth rate in February was 0.10 %. It was informed in the data released on Friday. The Index of Industrial Production (IIP) growth was 6.90% in February last year.

According to the Central Statistical Office (CSO) data, during the first 11 months of FY 2018-19, the average growth rate of IIP is 4 %. At the same time, it was 4.30 % in 11 months of FY 2017-18.

The situation since November
In January, retail inflation has reached its lowest level ever since December. According to the figures released by the government, retail inflation was 2.05 % in January. Retail inflation was 2.19 % in December, which was 2.33 % in November. IIP at the same time was 2.4 %.

Low inflation was in the wholesale price also
Wholesale Price Index (WPI) based inflation was at the lowest level of eight months in December by 3.80 %. Due to this, prices of fuel and food products are going down. In November, wholesale inflation was 4.64 %, while in December 2017 it was 3.58 %. Read more posts…
