In the new campus of Pandit Lalit Mohan Sharma Government Postgraduate College of Sridev Suman University, Rishikesh, a new building will be constructed in place of the dilapidated building of the Faculty of Science. Taking stock of the reconstruction work going on in the new campus, University Vice-Chancellor Dr. US Rawat gave information. He informed that studies and academic work will start on the new campus of the university as soon as the reconstruction work is completed.
Principal Secretary Higher Education Anand Vardhan issued a mandate on August 6 this year, approving the new campus of Sridev Suman University in Rishikesh. One and a half dozen affiliated higher education institutions including five state colleges in Dehradun district will get administrative and other benefits from this campus. Thousands of students will benefit from this new campus located in the center of Garhwal and Dehradun. Sridev Suman University still has one Gopeshwar state college campus.
Now the government has approved PLM College Rishikesh as the second campus. Earlier, it was approved by the Academic Council of the University on 18 July 2019. After the government’s mandate was issued, the Vice-Chancellor of the University met the Chancellor of the University and Governor Babyrani Maurya and discussed the facilities available to the students of Uttarakhand from the Master Plan of the new campus of the University.
Dr. US Rawat, Vice-Chancellor of Sridev Suman University, said that in 49 acres of land of PLM Degree College, the university’s auditorium, seminar hall, library, administrative building, hostel, teachers colony, research and innovation center, campus walls, beautification, etc. are in progress.
Faculty of Science in need of shabby reconstruction
The Vice-Chancellor said that after checking, it was found that the Faculty of Science, which has a dilapidated building of the Department of Botany, Chemistry, Zoology and water is coming from the walls during the rains. In view of this problem, orders for immediate reconstruction were given. A modern digital laboratory has been completed on the university campus. The seminar hall and auditorium are also almost ready.
College got B grade from NAC
In the year 1973, this college of erstwhile Uttar Pradesh state was established in Rishikesh. At present, there are about 3200 students in BA, BSc, BCom in undergraduate and MM, MSc and M.Com in postgraduate courses in the college. The college has 65 faculty. Which also has a sufficient number of associate spokespeople and assistant spokespeople.
