By March 2020, more than 73 thousand youths of the state will be employed in hand. The state government has stepped up work on plans to provide employment to youth in newly identified areas with the help of large companies like Maruti, Samsung and Tata, skill development and start-ups. Youths starting startups will be rewarded due to skill development scheme. 30% grant is being considered for self-employment and new startups. At the same time, the government will give incentives to start-ups and start-up courses and training centers in hilly areas.
The state government has declared this year as an employment year. The government plans to employ about one lakh youth. In this case, government departments have been asked to speed up the recruitment of vacant posts. Whether there are cases going on in courts or reservation or promotion screws, there are problems due to various reasons in the recruitment of vacancies in government departments. Instructions to remove them have been given to other employees including personnel. The special emphasis of the government is to encourage self-employment by training in skill development and employable courses. In three different schemes of skill development, by March 2020, 32 thousand, 16 thousand and 25 thousand people will be given employment training respectively. Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh has given instructions to the Planning Department to achieve this goal in a time-bound manner. In view of local needs and market demand, new training trades have been asked to be set up for employment.
On the initiative of the government, big industrial companies are also helping to inform the youth about new technology. These companies are training for employment in industries, as well as training in new employment sectors like AYUSH, Tourism and Hospitality, Trekking, Metering, and Machining. The state government has identified many new sectors in terms of employment and self-employment. Planning Secretary Amit Negi said that new areas are being worked on rapidly. Departments have been asked to prepare a refresher course for employment and skill development by selecting the primary sector. The services of trained and experienced ex-servicemen in various trades will be taken as an instructor in coordination with the Sainik Welfare Department. The beneficiaries of Mudra loan will be trained and linked to self-employment. By the month of September, 6381 youths have been provided employment in 62 trades under the PMKSY scheme.
Skill development training in these identified areas and new startups will open:
Tourism and Hospitality, Manufacturing, Media Entertainment, Food Processing, Agriculture, Organic Farming and Ayush.
Preparations begin to make Uttarakhand a startup hub
The exercise to make Uttarakhand a startup hub has been started. For this, an MoU was signed between Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), a Government of India organization, and Information Technology Development Agency (ITDA) of Uttarakhand.
The MoU was signed by Rajneesh Aggarwal, director of STPI’s Noida Center and Amit Sinha, director of ITDA, in the presence of IT secretary RK Sudhanshu. Director Amit Sinha said that the startup hub’s incubation center will be set up at IT Park. With this, Uttarakhand will become a part of the Indian startup ecosystem and Startup India. With this, around 1200 new employment opportunities will be developed in the state, while within three years 100 self-employment centers will also be established. He informed that ITDA is also working to establish the Center of Excellence in Drone Technology. In the near future, necessary skills related to IT will be developed in the state.
