A 20-years old Mohammad Munis, a resident of Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, had his eyesight restored by the successful operation performed by the doctors of Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) Hospital. The head of the department (HoD) of the ophthalmology at GDMC Hospital, Dr. Sushil Ojha said, “On October 29, he came to the OPD with a five-day-old injury in his left eye. His cornea was damaged and his lens capsule too was ruptured. The cornea of the patient was having micro- leaks increasing the chances of infection and loss of sight was there. We immediately stitched his damaged cornea to prevent infection and scheduled his operation for Wednesday.’’
The patient who works in a shop in Paltan market had a foldable lens implanted after which he got his eyesight immediately, said the doctor. The patient’s family members had not hoped to have such a complicated operation to be successful in a Government hospital in Dehradun. The team of ophthalmology department was congratulated by the principal of GDMC, Dr. Pradip Bharati Gupta and medical superintendent Dr. K K Tamta for the successful operation.
