The Central Government has set targets for the Prime Minister Employment Generation Program (PMEGP) scheme. If the scheme is implemented at the departmental level according to the intent of the Center, 1318 small units will be set up in the near future, there will be hope for the employment of 10542 unemployed persons in these production and service related units.
PMEGP scheme is jointly operated by Uttarakhand Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), District Industry Center (DIC) and Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB). The objective of the scheme is to make educated unemployed people available on their feet while motivating them for self-employment by providing loans through banks. In order to implement this scheme, the Khadi Commission has set the targets for the establishment of units in every district of the state, employment generation. In this regard, the letter written on behalf of the Khadi Commission has also been sent to these departments. It has been stated that margin money has been fixed for this amount of 39 crores 53 lakhs.

Pithoragarh completed the target
According to DIC general manager Vipin Kumar, PMIGP, in the financial year 2018-19, the district industry center Pithoragarh completed its mission. While doing most, 179 units have been installed. While margin money of Rs 20 million was distributed to the establishment of 153 units in Nainital district.
