Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC) had electric bus trial from Dehradun to Mussoorie and is happy with the feedback received. The UTC is now looking forward to adding 500 more such buses to its corporation.
The UTC general manager said that the addition of 500 electric buses will be done in the next three years if everything goes according to the plan. He also quoted that the test run of the buses have been in progress for 20 days now and no complexities have been found. The bus has plied on a 35-km route without any problem. We will do a trial run on the Nainital-Haldwani route next month.”
The General Manager said that in the first phase there will be 51 buses bought by the state and plans to buy 500 more in the next three years. He further said, “We have around 1,000 buses right now and we want to raise the number to 1,500. All the new buses will be running in the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode”.
