The disaster of 2013 in Kedarnath is not hidden from anyone. All roads were destroyed. But the reconstruction work happened so fast that it was as if the new city had been settled. The walkway is better and equipped with facilities than ever before. This is the reason that after nearly four years, on the Kedarnath Yatra, the footpath is being paid attention and the devotees are enjoying its charm. At present, the Health Department has established one Warm Room with MRP (Medical Relief Point) on the route from Gaurikund to Kedarnath.

9 MRPs are being constructed on about 17 km of the walking route. Two warm rooms will also be established in Kedarnath. Thus a total of 11 warm rooms will be set up in the yatra. This facility will help in the treatment of the patient suffering from hypothermia (rapid body temperature occurrence, difficulty in breathing). Shops are found every 2-3 kilometers on foot. Where tea-biscuits, water, etc. is available. Seeing a large number of passengers, shoppers’ are also happy.

People say that for the first time after the disaster, such a large number of devotees have gathered to see. Waiting rooms, seating areas have also been made alongside the road, where people can relieve their fatigue. Free medical care will be provided to the passengers in the hospital.

Apart from Chardham Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri in Uttarakhand, Hemkund Saheb is not only the center of faith, but the journey here is also an important means of economy. The Chardham Yatra was severely affected by the disaster in June 2013 and despite this, the government has gained the trust of the visitors through the infrastructure facilities as well as other arrangements on the Chardham Yatra routes.

In 2018, after a long wait, the number of visitors in Chardham increased to more than 26 lakhs. A total of 28 lakh 58 thousand devotees visited Himankur Sahib, including the travelers, till 8 September 2019.
