After the meeting with PM, now discussions of cabinet reshuffle intensified
After CM Trivendra’s meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, everyone’s eyes are now on the next step of the Chief Minister. After his return from Delhi, there is a lot of discussion in the BJP circles that the state cabinet may expand in the next few days.
Amidst these possibilities of the cabinet reshuffle, several contenders standing in the queue have also come into action. If sources are to be believed, they have intensified their claim. In order to carry out the exercise of manipulations, they have started circling the senior leaders of the organization and the Sangh.
After the regional and ethnic equation is preferred in the election of BJP state president, the same formula is being raised to implement the expansion of the cabinet. If this happens, the contenders who are at the forefront of the discussions may get a shock. However, the Chief Minister has given indications to expand the cabinet, but when this will happen, the mystery remains. After meeting the PM, there is a buzz within the organization that he has got the green signal for cabinet expansion.
Seats three, scene of battle
Only three seats are vacant in the Trivendra cabinet, but the number of contenders is high. The market for discussions about the contenders has also been hot since the possibilities of expansion. The meetings and visits of the party leaders are being seen in the cabinet detail.
How much representation to which district
Currently, the state cabinet has Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat from Dehradun in Garhwal, Madan Kaushik from Haridwar, Subodh Uniyal from Tehri, Satpal Maharaj and Harak Singh Rawat from Pauri and Dhan Singh Rawat is Minister of State. Yashpal Arya from Udham Singh Nagar in Kumaon and Cabinet Minister Arvind Pandey and Rekha Arya from Almora are Ministers of State. Prakash Pant was a cabinet minister from Pithoragarh. Representation of this district is over with his death. Premchand Aggarwal from Dehradun district has been made the speaker and Raghunath Singh Chauhan from Almora has been made the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly. The status of both leaders is equal to that of a cabinet minister.
These districts need space
Chamoli, Rudraprayag, and Uttarkashi in Garhwal and Nainital, Pithoragarh, Champawat, and Bageshwar in Kumaon have not received cabinet representation. Representation has been voiced from these districts for a long time.
Major contenders in the race
The names of Munna Singh Chauhan, Khajandas, Speaker Premchand Agarwal, Harbans Kapoor from Dehradun, Swami Yatishwaranand from Haridwar, Sanjay Gupta, Mahendra Bhatt from Chamoli are in discussion. The names of Pushkar Singh Dhami, Rajesh Shukla from Udham Singh Nagar in Kumaon, Bishan Singh Chufal from Pithoragarh, Balwant Singh Bhoryal from Bageshwar, Kailash Chandra Ghatodi from Champawat, Surendra Singh Jeena from Almora are well discussed.
The intersection of ethnic and regional equations
At the time of formation in the Trivendra cabinet, there are three Brahmins, four Thakurs including CM, one scheduled caste and one female minister. After the death of former cabinet minister Prakash Pant, there are now two Brahmin ministers Subodh Uniyal and Arvind Pandey in the cabinet. There is a possibility of appointing one Brahmin and two Thakur ministers in the cabinet to strike a balance. If the ethnic and regional balance is made the basis, then the aspirations of many stalwarts of contenders may come down.
Yatishwaranand camped in Delhi
Yatishwaranand, an MLA from Haridwar Rural, who defeated the then Chief Minister Harish Rawat in the assembly elections, has also joined hands to make a place in the cabinet. It is being told that he is camping in Delhi. MLA Sanjay Gupta is also being mentioned along with him. However, when contacted, Sanjay Gupta revealed himself to be in the constituency. Swami Yatishwaranand said that whatever decision would be taken by the party leadership will accept it.
He described himself as a dedicated worker of the party. BJP District President Dr. Jaipal Singh said that the party high command is looking at all the things according to its calculations. The cabinet will be expanded by taking the right decision at the right time. He hoped that the district would get the proper place, every decision of the party high command is acceptable to every party worker.
