All the preparations have been completed to make Dehradun railway station state-of-the-art and now construction works are to be started on the ground. Regarding this, MDDA and railway officials will sign the final MoU in the presence of the Chief Minister.
MDDA Vice-President Dr. Ashish Srivastava said that even before this an MoU was done with the Railways. Under this, MDDA conducted a survey for the development of the railway station and it was assessed that at what cost the facilities can be developed here.
Now after the MoU is signed, the selection process of the construction company will also be started. The station will be developed state-of-the-art at a cost of around Rs 500 crore. This work will be done in the PPP (Public-Private Partnership) model. Also, the target will be set within how much time the station will be rejuvenated.
The railway station will develop like this
A new multi-story building with all facilities will be constructed in the railway station complex. It will have automatic steps and a new route will be made from the end of Lakkhibagh outpost to enter the station. Passengers visiting this platform number four and five will be able to use this route.
There will be no tampering of the old heritage building in the modernization work. The new building will have offices of officers as well as an executive lounge, private and taxi parking, selfie point, etc. Apart from this, the multi-functional complex will also be constructed on the land adjacent to the booking counter in the station. There will be a provision of a hotel, food plaza, etc.
