In most parts of the state today, the forecast of very heavy rain and snowfall has turned out to be correct. This morning, the capital was cloudy, after which there were intermittent rains in the capital. There were rains in Pauri, Gairsen, Srinagar, Khatima, Rudrapur, and Nainital.
There are clouds in the sky in Chamoli district. On the other hand, snowfall is seen in the hills of Gopeshwar, Joshimath, Pokhri, Ghat, Nandprayag, Pipalkoti, Tharali, Deval, Gairsen, Narayanbagad. After 10 o’clock in the morning, snowfall started in high altitude areas. Badrinath, Auli, Hemkund, Valley of flowers, Goras Bugyal, Nanda Ghungti and snowfall in Niti and Mana valley villages. There was buoyancy in Chamoli’s lower areas. Yamunotri and Yamuna Ghati also had rainfall. Snowfall occurred on the elevated areas of Kedarnath and Rudraprayag.
New Tehri and adjoining areas have received rains over the last night. Cold wave was relieved after light sunlight came out this morning. The rainy season has remained with Yamunotri Dham. While the low-level Yamuna valley continues to be covered with light sunlight hidden under light clouds.
Heavy rain-snowfall red alert in the state today
The weather department has issued a red alert for today. At the same time, the government issued instructions to all the district officials to take extra precautions. According to the bulletin released by the Meteorological Department, there may be heavy snowfall in most of the hill areas of the state.
Especially the high-altitude districts of Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Uttarkashi, Pithoragarh, and Almora can have snowfall. Meteorological director Bikram Singh said that hail may also fall in Haridwar, Dehradun and Udham Singh Nagar during the next 24 hours.
On the other hand, after issuing the Red Alert, the government has instructed all the district officials to take necessary precautions. To prevent the movement of tourists in high altitude areas has been asked. Also, effective arrangements to immediately open the road, if blocked, due to snowfall has been asked to arrange.
Rain and snowfall will be double
With rain and snowfall, the cold in most parts of the state will now be doubled. The Meteorological Department has expressed the hope that cold will increase in almost all the areas. At the same time, temperatures will be reduced to half or less in many areas. Especially in the mountainous areas, this will increase the chill.
