Nowadays almost all the small and big hotels of the state living in Gulzar are waiting for tourists.
Due to school holidays in many places in March-April-May and the start of Chardham Yatra and the tourism season is near, this time is considered to be the best in terms of the tourism industry in Uttarakhand. Tourism and pilgrimage are also more during this season.

At such a time, the tourism industry has also suffered from a panic situation due to coronavirus infection. In all the small and big hotels of the state, 70 to 80 percent of the rooms are empty. Apart from foreign tourists and tourists coming from other parts of the country, local tourists are also shying away from visiting tourist places.

Booking cancellation of different groups of school students

GIO Adventure Private Limited company general manager Satish Khanduri said that in March-April, a large number of students and teachers from schools, colleges, and other educational institutions from cities like Delhi, Lucknow, Chakrata, Uttarkashi, Tehri, Oli, Kund, Ranikhet, etc. they reach places like Nainital. So far this year, due to the fear of Corona, 12 groups of their company have canceled the booking done earlier.

Local employment will also be affectet

Manu Kochhar, State Vice President of Uttarakhand Hotel Association and Director of Madhuban Hotel in Dehradun, said that due to the fear of Coronavirus, the hotel and tourism industry of Uttarakhand has suffered a great loss.

Beautiful places like Mussoorie, Nainital, Corbett Park, etc., which are generally buzzing, are also silent. Along with the hotel, the restaurants are also almost empty. If this is the case then the hotel operators will have to reduce the staff. This will also have an impact on local employment.

90 percent group conference canceled in Mussoorie

The tourism business of the Mussoorie, queen of hills has also suffered heavily. State President of Uttarakhand Hotel Association and Director of Hotel Brantwood in Mussoorie, Sandeep Sahni said that about 40 percent of the bookings have been canceled. While 90 percent group conference has also been canceled so far. If the situation does not improve, then it will also have an impact on the local and state economy.

There is also a huge shortage of foreign tourists

Tourism expert and former publicity officer of Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN) Limited, Prashant Negi said that at this time, the tourist stations used to start increasing at hill stations like Pauri, Khirsu, Rishikesh, Nainital, Kausani, Ranikhet, etc. But this time the situation is reversed here. Now the new decision will also cause a huge shortage of foreign tourists.

GMVN resorted to pilgrimage

Corporation of Uttarakhand Tourism Department GMVN has resort to pilgrimage. GMVN General Manager (Tourism) Jitendra Kumar said that at present, bookings for Char Dham Yatra are coming good. The pilgrimage is expected to be good in times to come when the weather will be perfect.
