CM Trivendra Singh Rawat said in the Assembly on Wednesday that the coronavirus is a very serious challenge before the entire human race. The coronavirus has shaken powerful and prosperous nations. He said that India and Uttarakhand are committed to defeating Corona. Taking inspiration and guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and advice from medical experts, our government has taken many effective steps in curbing the coronavirus epidemic. The situation is constantly being monitored by the authorities. Uttarakhand is one of the leading states of India in an effort to fight this epidemic.
The Chief Minister said that under these efforts, the Covid-19 Regulation has been implemented in the state under the provisions of Epidemic Disease Control Act-1897 and a State Task Force has been set up under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary. Also, two emergency cabinet meetings have been held to deal with this challenge. Seeing the possibility of infection in the state, all the checkings along the Indo-Nepal border were screened in Banbasa and Tanakpur districts of Champawat, Dharchula, Baluwakot, Joljeevi, Balaghat and Dura in Pithoragarh and Khatima in Udham Singh Nagar district.
So far, 55,109 people have been screened at the said places, in which no corona infection suspect has been found. Medical teams, ambulances, infrared thermometers have been arranged at each screening point. The international border is currently sealed. 50,016 passengers have been screened by the Health Department team at Dehradun, Pantnagar and Pithoragarh airports in coordination with the airport authorities in the state. In which no person with suspected symptoms of coronavirus was found.
At present, domestic flights have also been stopped completely. Since 31 December 2019, the list of passengers coming from China and other affected countries is being provided to the state government from time to time by the Government of India, till date, the list of 2082 people has been received and all of them have been screened at the airport. Out of the above list, 628 people have completed the 28-day monitoring period. 131 people have gone out of the state and so far 1,323 people are on surveillance period (1244 at home and 79 in hospital).
The Chief Minister said that the main route for the arrival of the virus is the arrival of new people in the state, so all domestic and international tourists have been barred from March 20, 2020, till advance orders. All schools, colleges, cinema halls, malls, etc. have been closed till 31 March 2020 to prevent congestion and this period has been extended to less than the instructions of the Government of India. The lockdown was declared by Uttarakhand in India till March 31, 2020, which was a pioneering initiative and this period have also been extended to less than the instructions of the Government of India. Strict compliance has been ensured by the districts. Orders for work from home have been issued in non-essential services.
