The Chief Minister has described the defeat of the party’s authorized candidate for the post of Mayor in Roorkee Municipal Corporation election as the expected result. He said that the party had more seniority in mind than Jitau. However, it is also learned that Jitau should be given the ticket. He added that whether the vote was to A or B, the vote was to BJP.
The results of the Roorkee Municipal Corporation elections were announced on Sunday. In this, Gaurav Goyal, who rebelled from the BJP, won the mayoral post. The BJP’s official candidate finished third. This was considered a major strategic lapse of the BJP. Talking to reporters on Monday, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat also accepted this fact. He said the results that were expected has happened.
There is no problem in accepting it. Many times seniority has to be respected. Despite this, the BJP has voted. It is true that no other political party is left in the state other than BJP. The condition is that now the opposition is not ready to contest elections even on its election symbol. The BJP is strong in the state and will perform strongly in the future. On the question of the victorious Mayor Gaurav Gupta returning home, the Chief Minister said that there is no hurry.
