Chardham yatra 2019: Rudraprayag-Gaurikund and Badrinath National Highway closed due to debris

Rudraprayag-Gaurikund highway and Badrinath National Highway have been closed due to debris. The Rudraprayag-Gaurikund highway is closed due to heavy debris from the hill. Efforts are on to open the route. Badrinath National Highway is blocked in Farasu since Wednesday night. It was told that the geoscientist will come to see the sensitive area in Farasu.

During the all-weather road cutting near Farasu on the Rishikesh-Badrinath National Highway, traffic was interrupted due to falling debris from the hill. Due to not clearing up the debris from the highway, the police had to divert the traffic from contact route, which is causing about 25 km of an extra route for the vehicles from Srinagar to Rudraprayag and vice versa. This situation remained the same on the road throughout the day on Wednesday.

At around 12 o’clock on the highway, there was a sudden debris-fall from the hill, which has caused to clean the machines from both sides of the highway, but right after clearing it, the debris kept falling on the highway again.
