Urban Development Minister Madan Kaushik expressed his displeasure at the slow pace of smart city operations. In a review meeting of Dehradun Smart City on Tuesday, Cabinet Minister Kaushik said that the progress of work is not encouraging at all. However, officials cited no work for four months due to COVID-19. On this, the Minister directed that the working organization should take fast steps to complete the work on the prescribed deadline. He said that during the lockdown on Saturday and Sunday, the progress of works can be expedited, especially by increasing the working time.
Talking to reporters after the review meeting of the Smart City in the Assembly, Cabinet Minister Kaushik said that others including smart roads, duct construction, replacement of drinking water, and sewerage lines have not yet started under the Smart City. Clearly, the progress of work is not encouraging. In view of this, instructions have been given to expedite the works. In the coming days, smart city works will be faster. He said that after inspecting jointly the officials of Drinking Water Corporation, Water Department, and Energy Corporation, instructions have also been given to take a report of the minutes.
These tasks are to be done in a smart city
Under the Smart Road in Doon Smart City, work is to be done from Dilaram Chowk to Ghantaghar, Behl Chowk to Araghar Chowk, Ghantaghar to Kishannagar Chowk, Prince Chowk to Araghar Chowk. Multi-utility duct, sewer, and drain construction, water supply and road construction works are proposed on the smart road. Apart from this, under the ADB-funded scheme, sewer lines are to be constructed from Ghantaghar to Darshani Gate, on all three sides of the parade ground, via Darshan Lal Chowk to Gandhi Road, from Saharanpur Chowk, Tilak Road to Saharanpur Chowk and Lunia locality in the area under ADB. Connecting drainage works are also to be done in various fields. Simultaneously the work of reconstruction and beautification of the parade ground is to be done.
The gas pipeline should also be planned
Cabinet Minister Kaushik said that the work of gas pipeline in Haridwar is going on. This work is to be done in Dehradun also in the coming days. In view of this, the officials have been instructed to make timely plans for the gas pipeline laying here in the near future.
