Nomination of BJP candidate and former Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank from Uttarakhand’s Haridwar Lok Sabha constituency has been challenged again in the High Court. The case will be heard on April 12. Independent candidate from Haridwar and BJP Baghi Manish Verma challenged Nishank’s nomination through a special permission petition. Let the former bench of the High Court dismissed the petition.
The court had dismissed Nishank’s plea while referring to the petition challenging the nomination of former MLA Sarita Arya in the assembly elections held in 2012. During that time the court had said that nomination will not be challenged but can challenge the elections.
Charged with concealing facts
In the petition filed by Manish Verma, a resident of Dehradun, who contested an independent election, had said that Dr. Nishank has hidden the facts as the former Chief Minister received in the affidavit given, about the government accommodation and other facilities dues.
Nishank has not mentioned the bank accounts of his daughter. Nishank has applied the provincial certificate of MP residence of Delhi. He also complained to its election officer, but Nishank said in his reply that his daughter is not dependent on them. He is still an MP. Read more posts…
