MLA's pay-cuts

Abstract
Leader of Opposition Dr. Indira Hridayesh said that before the decision was not taken in confidence, therefore, will not give consent

Almost all the MLAs of the ruling BJP in Uttarakhand have given assent to the Legislative Assembly about a 30 percent reduction in their salaries and allowances. Assembly Speaker Premchand Aggarwal appealed to all the MLAs again. However, his appeal to Congress MLAs has no effect so far. Leader of Opposition Dr. Indira Hridayesh has made it clear that since the state government did not take the opposition into confidence, they would not agree to cut salary allowances.

After the decision of the state cabinet, Assembly Speaker Premchand Aggarwal appealed to all the assembly members to give their consent to the reduction of salary allowances. But initially only one or two MLAs agreed. The state government also had to be uncomfortable about this.

State BJP president Banshidhar Bhagat also had to appeal to the MLAs to give their consent to the pay-cut to contribute to the COVID fund. Meanwhile, the Speaker of the Assembly also sent letters to the MLAs again. Also, appealed through social media.

According to Assembly Secretariat sources, the consent of almost all the BJP MLAs has been obtained. Independent legislators have also given their consent. But no Congress MLA has given his consent yet. The Speaker’s appeal to the opposition MLAs is yet to show any impact.

MLAs will be issued two months’ salary

The Assembly Secretariat could not release the salaries of the MLAs, waiting for the consent to cut salary allowances. Now all the MLAs will be issued two months’ salary. Salary will be released along with deduction as per their MoU.
