‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign: Udham Singh Nagar selected in 10 best districts of the country

Under the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign, the US city has been awarded for the better work done in the district in five years and the continuous improvement in the sex ratio at the time of the birth of daughters. Union Minister Smriti Zubin Irani presented the award to DM Dr. Neeraj Khairwal at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on Friday.

The US city has been voted among the 10 best districts in the country. Smriti Irani also praised the innovative initiative of the district administration. She also tweeted from the Twitter handle and congratulated the district administration and ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ team for the award. The DM has credited the award to the team for the better work.

A number of awareness programs were conducted under the leadership of DM Dr. Neeraj Khairwal to spread the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign to the public. All programs were organized under ‘Beti Padhao, Beti Bachao’ in social, religious and cultural programs to be held in the district. Girls were made ambassadors by visiting all festivals and schools.

With the introduction of campaign stickers in public, private vehicles as well as homes, the introduction of giving baby kits from CSR and other items to hospital-borne girls were started.

Apart from this, rallies and street plays were also organized continuously. The then DPO, Dr. Akhilesh Mishra, played an important role in the activities conducted in the district. The campaign was linked to the society with inter-departmental coordination.

From the year 2014-15 to 2018-19, due to the increase in the sex ratio of girls from various activities, US Nagar was selected among the 10 best districts in the country. Women empowerment and child development minister Smriti Zubin Irani presented the award to DM Dr. Neeraj Khairwal at a program organized at Vigyan Bhawan Delhi on Friday. DM Dr. Khairwal said that it is a matter of pride. This award will definitely increase the enthusiasm of the team doing better work.
