In the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), the medical team of Orthopedic Department has successfully achieved a thumb by operating the finger of a four-year-old child.
Earlier, there were only four fingers in the child’s hands. AIIMS director Professor Ravi Kant appreciated the medical team for the surgery. He informed that Dr. Vivek Singh, specialist surgeon of Bone Disease Department, Prof. Shobha S. Arora’s guidance has achieved success in thumb surgery.

Pro. Ravi Kant said that many children are born without the thumb or one bone from the side.
Because of this, they have to face problems as that of the handicaps in their daily affairs and activities such as writing, food etc. The therapeutic team included Dr Vivek Singh, Dr Sitanshu Barik, Dr Soviak Paul, Dr Ajay Kumar etc.
