AIDS-afflicted people should have social-empathy

Marking the World’s AIDS Day, in a jointly organized one-day seminar by medical health and family welfare department and Uttarakhand State AIDS Control Society (USACS) at Town Hall, the chief guest and an eminent neurosurgeon Dr. Mahesh Kudiyal said that the HIV positive-afflicted patients should have society’s support rather than being shunned.

The additional project director (APD), USACS, Dr. V S Tolia, on the occasion, informed about the activities the society has undertaken by telecasting programmes on the TV and airing shows on All India Radio (AIR) to ease the suffering of the AIDS-afflicted people. Dr. Tolia also said that a 24X7 helpline number (1097) is being operated by the National Aids Control Society (NACO) for the purpose.
