After 27 death the Excise Department woke up, a raid on illegal liquor furnaces

After 27 deaths in Uttarakhand consuming poisonous liquor, the Excise Department woke up from their sleep. In Haldwani on Saturday, the Excise Department team started working on illegal liquor trade in Ramnagar and Udhamsingh Nagar.

According to the information, the team raided raw liquor furnaces in many places. At the same time, they have taken possession of illegal liquor and have taken action against other people as well. 27 villagers died in different villages of Godpur tehsil in Haridwar district due to poisonous liquor consumption, while more than five dozen people have been admitted in hospitals.

After the death of such a large number of people, 13 officers and employees including Excise Inspector have been suspended. The SSP has also suspended the Jhabreda police station, the Chowki Charge and the light constable, and constituted the SIT to investigate the matter under the leadership of the Police Area Officer (Mangalore).

Excise Minister Prakash Pant has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident. The maximum number of people killed were from the Jhabreda police station area.
