In a ‘run against substance abuse’ organized in the state on Sunday, the Africans bagged the top positions in both 10 km and 20 km.
The Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat flagged off the run from the police lines in the provisional State Capital. He appealed the youth to stay away from any kind of drugs and also to play an active role in the campaign against drugs, it not only gives physical but also mental weakness making the whole nation weak. He said that youth should stay away from intoxication and make others also aware of the menace of drug abuse.
The Chief Minister appreciated the Uttarakhand police for organizing the run for raising awareness against substance abuse and before the race he administered an oath to the participants against the cause.
The first position in the men’s and women’s category for 20 km are Ethiopian runners Aber Ketem and Jinashwark Ambi bagging a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh each and in the 10 km run, Samir Naser from Ethiopia and Shobhna Rana from Mussoorie won the men and women category bagging Rs 50,000 cash prize each.
