A trapped elephant trampled three men to death

Days of the trial to trap an elephant, trapped by a joint team of the forest division, tramples three men to death on Friday.

A joint team of Rajaji National Park and Haridwar forest division trapped an elephant after a four-day-operation which always failed before. The elephant ran in fear even after the tranquilization, said the foresters. The local vegetable market near Tibdi could not be held for two consecutive days because of the operation being tried. Later after several trials, the elephant was traced near the gate in BHEL which was trapped in the Friday morning.

The Haridwar divisional forest officer Akash Verma said that it would be taken to be trained for the purpose of patrolling. It would be kept and trained in the Chilla range where two other elephants, Radha and Rangeeli, are being used in forest patrolling.
