Now Koshiyari will strengthen Uttarakhand’s relations with Maharashtra
Bhagat Singh Koshiyari, who was the second Chief Minister of the first Interim Government of Uttarakhand, made another major achievement in Uttarakhand’s share by making him Governor of important state like Maharashtra. Koshiyari is the second Chief Minister of Uttarakhand after Former Chief Minister of the state late Narayan Dutt Tiwari, who has been appointed as the Governor.
Bhagat da, who represented the Nainital Lok Sabha seat in 2014, refused to contest the Lok Sabha elections this time. Bhagat Singh Koshiyari is responsible for energy in the Swami Government, not only in Uttarakhand but also among the big BJP leaders of North India.
On November 9, 2000, when Uttarakhand (then named Uttaranchal) was born as the 27th state on the map of the country, Koshiyari was also a member of the 30-member Interim Assembly formed at that time. In fact, Koshiyari was a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly at that time and the Interim Legislative Assembly included 30 MLAs who were representing Uttarakhand in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council and Vidhan Sabha at the time of state formation.
The command of the first interim government of newly formed Uttarakhand was entrusted to Nityanand Swami and as the senior-most member in his cabinet, Koshiyari handled important matters like energy and irrigation. The four-month and one-day tenure of Swami Sarkar has been a victim of contradiction in the party since the beginning. As a result, the BJP high command removed Nityananda Swami from the chief minister’s chair and made Bhagat Singh Koshiyari the chief minister even before the one-year term was over.
Koshiyari became the second Chief Minister of Uttarakhand on 30 October 2001. Under his leadership, BJP contested the first Assembly elections in Uttarakhand, but the Congress ousted the BJP from power. Koshiyari only got a four-month and one-day term as chief minister. He held this post till March 1, 2002.
Narayan Dutt Tiwari became the head of the Congress government that came to power in 2002 and Bhagat Singh Koshiyari got the role of Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, which he played for the entire five years.
Koshiyari was the chief ministerial candidate from the BJP in the 2007 assembly elections, but after winning the election, the party leadership led Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri, the Minister of Surface Transport and Highways in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government. Preceding Koshiyari made him the Chief Minister.
Koshiyari then sent the Rajya Sabha in the year 2008 and then reached Parliament by winning the Nainital seat in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he himself had announced that he would not contest the election.
After the BJP’s emphatic victory in this Lok Sabha election under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it was believed that the BJP could entrust the important responsibility of the post of Governor to Koshiyari.
Simple life, rich in organization capacity
Koshiyari has touched heights in politics, but his lifestyle has always been very simple. Despite being their chief minister, the doors of the chief minister’s residence were open to everyone. Koshiyari, known as Bhagat da, has always been popular among those who know, and there was no change even when he became a member of Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha.
Bhagat Singh Koshiyari has been among those leaders of the party who are considered highly skilled in organizational capacity. Apart from party president, he has also held the responsibility of national vice president in Uttarakhand.
Will strengthen Uttarakhand’s relations with Maharashtra
Newly-appointed Governor of Maharashtra and former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Bhagat Singh Koshiyari says that by making a small worker like him the Governor of a big state like Maharashtra, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP party has respected not only him but the entire Uttarakhand. He said that he will work to strengthen the relations of Maharashtra and Uttarakhand.
The newly appointed Governor of Maharashtra, Koshiyari, was warmly welcomed upon arriving at the Defense Colony residence in Dehradun on late Sunday evening. On this occasion, Koshiyari said that he has always done the politics of constitutional values. Now, staying in the Raj Bhavan, he will work within the scope of the Constitution to protect the development of the country and its unity and integrity. The government of Maharashtra is doing a good job. They will contribute where they are needed.
