12 villagers die after drinking poisonous liquor, 4 seriously injured, 13 employees suspended

12 people were killed after drinking poisonous liquor in Ballupur village of Jhabrera area in Roorkee of Uttarakhand. Four people are admitted to the hospital in critical condition. According to SSP Janmajay Prabhakar Khanduri, there was a program of death anniversary in a person’s house in the village. During this time some villagers drank alcohol there. At the same time, DM has ordered a magisterial inquiry into this matter. Its responsibility has been entrusted to ADM Lalit Narayan Mishra.

After drinking alcohol, the condition of the villagers started deteriorating in which 12 people died. Other people have been admitted to the hospital. In the matter of negligence over the consumption of illegal liquor, Additional Excise Commissioner Archana Gaharwar has suspended 13 employees. Additionally, all the suspended employees have been attached to Dehradun.

Police officials say that the incident must have been due to drinking raw alcohol made at home. The police team has left for the spot.

At the same time, it is also being investigated that the case is not about food poisoning. It was only after drinking and eating food that the people felt sick. The matter is under investigation. Only after this will the situation will be clear.
